Aquatic Education

Aquatic Education

Infant Aquatics

Under the supervision of a qualified pre-school aquatics teacher, classes are held in a safe and secure environment for children aged six months to five years. Conducted in Aquahub's state-of-the-art Family Leisure Pool during school terms, classes tackle safety issues, build confidence and provide exercise and enjoyment for all involved.

Learn to Swim

We offer a range of learn to swim programs tailored to all levels, from five years of age upwards.

Held 7 days a week during school terms, our classes are designed to promote water safety, build confidence and endurance and develop correct stroke technique. Classes are an ideal introduction to competitive swimming and provide a solid foundation for future development. Adult lessons are also available on request.

What is an ASO?

The Aquatic Service Officer (ASO) is a senior staff member who has a thorough knowledge in Aquatic Education teaching and the aquatics industry.

The main focus of this person is to provide customer Service to new and existing aquatic education participants and their parents. The ASO is able to conduct assessments of ability, offer advice and training to staff and parents and can change enrolment information. If you require the ASO they can be located on pool deck.

Aquabuddies

Thursdays 7 to 8pm followed by a light supper.
$7.75 per participant. Carer's free.

Aquabuddies focuses on inclusion and participation in the water. Individuals that require assistance and care on a day to day basis enter the water with enthusiasm and suddenly become so independent with their own abilities.

Aquabuddies participate in the warm water pool for an hour, with music in the background adding to the atmosphere. The session is followed with supper and light refreshments and Aquabuddies are encouraged to bring a plate of food to share for supper every second time they attend.

Swimming has a high psychological and therapeutic value for all people, as the buoyancy relieves the strain on the body and allows you to move without assistance - an important discovery and experience.

Carers are required in the water to assist in making the activities run as smoothly as possible and to keep an eye on those with special medical conditions.

A completed enrolment form including medical information is required prior to program commencement. Following this, a qualified instructor will organise a time to assess the needs of the individual prior to starting the first session.
